The classes are not balanced for this...
It's easy to make a Anti-* Build, but that build would suck against an the Anti-Anti Build. Diversity is what makes teams strong...

they already said that they wont do this. it is a unbalanced bad idea that will only lead to people whining endlessly about unbalanceness

Healers are supposed to heal for more than what is possible to deal in damage to balance out groups. Otherwise.. everyone wouldn't even have a monk because your just delaying the inevitable death and losing a damage dealing slot.

healing breze is an enchantment. healing breze can get shattered. or diversioned.. just diversion him out of skills.. drain his mana and diversion his signet of devotion. put backfire on him and watch him kill himself (i don't know of any heal that can negate the backfire damage, maybe except infuse health) i'm afraid monks would not be the uber classes in arena. mesmers would. set up a mesmer right and you can beat anyone. empathy for attacking caracters. backfire for spell casters. diversion for blocking out healing skills. energy management skills. and something of your own coice. mesmers would dominate 1v1
edit: if they would do it. half the skills in the game would need changing. because they are WAY overpowered in 1v1.
the only way to counter a backfire/empathy domination mesmer would be with a signet build. signets are not spells and go through both backfire and empathy.

Love the idea, and it is very likely the only way myself or my partner would even consider PvP. I hope Areanet will give it further consideration.
As for 'balance' -- that there HAS TO BE balance is untrue. It is a belief that ties into the 'It's Not Fair' school of thought that is demonstrated throughout life to be the least likely to succeed in anything. I'll leave it at that.

Try being a Ranger LOL fairly unbalanced now IMO. I think Rangers could do better in a 1v1 than in team play because they do have a strong self heal. But I also think some of the matches would be kind of endless at times LOL. Could you imagine 2 monks going at it LOL.
I wouldnt mind it though. dont really see how it would "doom" the game.

You the same Jomandoor as on the lionhead boards? I would imagine so since it's not a common name.
At any rate, I think it's kind of cool, but better if they added Mobs to fight also, gladiator style.

The problem is once it is introduced, then it needs to be balanced.
And in a rock/paper/scissors type game like this its going to require compomising the core game.
Sorry, I vote no.

I like the idea of having inner-guild 1v1. Most of the arguments against 1on1 are unbalance. Well, if there was no reward or ladder system, it wouldn't matter.

I want to see more types of areanas 1v1 2v1. I think that it should be our choice if we want 1through8 per team.

I myself would have countless hours of fun in here, obsidian flesh + weakness + knockdown + ward vs melee... and my armor ignoring spells... oh yea, i'd love to see some 1v1... i'd have so much fun...
Or perhaps my ranger, for all those wa/mo's that think they'd win ^.^

It wouldnt need balanced. While the game may not be meant for 1v1, there are Many different combo's that you can make that can beat many things... it would be like paper rock scissors... It all depends on how Your character is made... and i would personaly love to see the different combo's of skills that people come up with, just for the 1v1... cause then you'd have to be self reliant, which is like... Having a totaly different game within the same!
**Only thing, is those monks that go in there, and fight say... a warrior without enough interupts... they'd just wait it out... ^.^**, but as that would be very boring for the super monks, they probably wont want to do that, very much...But, in this 1v1 form of fighting... you'd probably see more smite monks... such as smite + Protection... then they'd own it all (Except those pesky interupters, and mesmers draining energy)... oh yea, that's why there is no best already... the 1v1 wouldnt hurt anything, and it would add a bit more fun to those with slower computers, as they might lag in the bigger battles, with all the effects going on... heh
End of story.
